Drone near-miss reported involving an Edmonton Police Service Eurocopter EC120B near Edmonton

n Edmonton Police Service Eurocopter EC120B was reportedly involved in a near-miss with a drone near Edmonton on 8 July 2016. Separation distance reported as 33-66 feet.

An Edmonton Police Service helicopter, Air 1 (C-FEPS), was on a call to the north east of Edmonton when it encountered a drone on a collision course. A drone was about 10 – 20 meters from Air – 1, while both were 450 meters in the air. Cst. Brian Griffith, the pilot at the time, estimates the drone was on a closure rate of 200 km/hour, but he was able to get out of the way.
