Westpac Surf Lifesaving Rescue MBB BO-105 was reportedly involved in a near-miss with a drone near Noosa’s First Point, QLD on 31 July 2016. Separation distance reported as 100 feet.
The Westpac Surf Lifesaving Rescue Helicopter (Lifesaver 45) was doing a routine patrol of the coastline, heading north from its Caloundra base when it encountered a drone at a height of about 200ft (approx 60m). The drone passed 30m below and 15m to the side of the helicopter.
